LONG SERVICE CELEBRATION

John Farrant has just celebrated 30 years of continuous club membership. John joined Abbey in 1982 and is not only our longest serving club member, but also our oldest as well.

This landmark was celebrated with food and drink at our Saturday shooting session, attended by very nearly every club member. John was awarded an engraved tankard and a ”Target with arrows” iced cake baked by Toni Riseborough.

Our own Essex Team Member

You may not know that Alex Cordaro was very proud (as were his parents) to be selected to shoot for Essex Juniors last month against Sussex down in Brighton, which they won both recurve and compound disciplines for the FITA 18 round.

Alex gave a good account of himself for his first appearance and was pleased with score of 458 although not his PB (which is 470) considering it was under competition conditions for the County. He hopes to be selected again sometime soon in the future to get his County Colours.

Our own Olympic Champion

You may or may not know that George Charnick has been selected to join the 70,000 volunteers (Games Makers) assisting at this year’s London Olympics. The selection process started in 2010 with the completion of an online application followed by interviews in 2011. Training for their individual roll has just begun with an event at Wembley Arena. George is also lucky enough to be based at Lords for the Archery and has been seen showing off his ‘London Prepares’ waterproof provided when he attended test events at the Excel Centre last November.

Good luck George, we know you will do great!! Andy Richardson – Chairman If you want to know more about Games Makers click on this link
